This past Friday the 16th we had our first official shoot of 'Us & Them'. It was the senior prom scene, which was a giant undertaking and is a huge emotional climax of the movie. Aside from some big stresses and the general craziness of decorating and directing such a huge part of the film, it was actually a lot of fun and a big relief. It's always the best to get the first shoot out of the way, and from here on out the scenes are more intimate and controlled. The extras that showed up were a BIG help and so amazing; the crew down to each and every single person were just a complete rock and the best people in the world, and the leads (Steve, Elizabeth, Paul, and Ian on this shoot) completely brought it and were absolutely astounding- can't believe how much talent was in the room that night. So blessed and lucky to be seeing this story come to life in a way better than I ever could have imagined. Thanks to everyone and I can't wait to shoot again. Too bad it'll be about another month but until then we have some of 'Black Dawn' to shoot and we'll be working, working, working! Happy, happy holidays to everyone, and love and gratitude to all.
**PS- Just a tiny bit of random recent news, some of our core crew (Carrie, Marc, Rob, Nugent, and Alan) submitted a comedic famous film quote-themed short awhile ago to The History of Movies Film Festival sponsored by Pass the Popcorn. It was accepted into a bracket-style tournament which was voted on by the public until a winner would be announced. That winner as of Dec 2011 was us! We won the grand prize ($$!) and will be splitting our winnings for use in our Thesis budgets. Woohoo!
